Installation Technician ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Installer's responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

  • Understand the safety features of the machines and tooling to ensure they are operating without compromise to safety systems.
  • Follows safety protocol, including wearing heat resistant gloves, flame resistant (FR) clothing, protective masks, and safety toed footwear.
  • Respect and protect Swanton Welding's and third party's property (tools, vehicles, facilities, equipment) and business activities
  • Plans details of work order procedures; gathers required tools and materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.
  • Ability to read blue prints and understand a set of work instructions.
  • Operates drills, air tools, power tools and cranes to install truck beds and axles.
  • Visually inspect quality and use other quality inspection equipment to confirm compliance to part specifications.
  • Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and work area
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Shop Supervisor
  • Conduct self at all times in a way that promotes a positive image of the Swanton Welding and follows the code of conduct

Installation Technician QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Strong mechanical abilities
  • Experience working with wrenches and impact tools (i.e. auto mechanic skills)
  • Knowledge on how to operate drills, air tools, power tools and cranes.
  • Experience working with cars, trucks or semis
  • Welding experience desired
  • Ability to read a tape measure and understand mathematical calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide, fractions).

Machine Operator Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Machinist to join our dynamic team at Swanton Welding & Machining. If you are passionate about precision machining, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and are eager to contribute to the growth of a machine shop, we want to hear from you.

Machine Operator Key Responsibilities:

  • General Knowledge of Manual Machines: Proficient in operating manual machines, including mills and lathes. Experience with a Boring Mill is a plus.
  • CNC Experience: Solid understanding of CNC machining, including G Code knowledge. Familiarity with Mazak Smooth G Controller is desirable but not mandatory.
  • Blueprint Reading: Ability to interpret blueprints, set up machines, and run jobs with minimal supervision.
  • Experience: Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in machining.
  • Attitude and Communication Skills: Positive attitude, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Versatility: Capable of performing a variety of setups and runs. Efficiency in handling small quantity runs and setups is a key requirement.
  • Continuous Learning: Willingness to learn and contribute to the growth of the machine shop.

Machine Operator Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Operate machine tools, including CNC lathe, CNC mill, Boring Mill, and Manual Lathe.
  • Set up, program, adjust, and operate the mentioned equipment.
  • Calculate dimensions and tolerances using mathematical knowledge and precision instruments.
  • Position workpieces on machines and align holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
  • Monitor feed and speed of machines during the machining process.
  • Utilize and interpret blueprints, drawings, and engineering information to determine methods and sequences of operation.
  • Select appropriate tools, machines, and materials based on job requirements.
  • Review and program machines using electronic or written blueprints.
  • Check accuracy of work against blueprints and specifications.
  • Work with sales, manufacturing, and estimating teams to assist in quoting and estimating job times.
  • Assist in maintaining equipment, identifying, and resolving mechanical problems.
  • Support metalworking projects from planning and fabrication through assembly, inspection, and testing.

WELDING SUPERVISOR ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The Welding Supervisor is responsible for the operations of the plant, which includes the management and coordination of daily activities to ensure high performance and production at all times. Other duties include ensuring company policy and procedures are followed as well as assisting in the training process for new hires and staff members. The Welding Supervisor responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,

  • Contributes to and supports the vision, mission, and guiding principles of the company.
  • Maintain a safe work environment and ensure all safety policies and procedures are being met for employee and guest safety.
  • Professionally represent Swanton Welding & Machining Company with existing and prospective customers and vendors.
  • Provide overall leadership, direction, and motivation to achieve company and customer objectives.
  • Coordinate plant activities to ensure objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost-effective manner.
  • Meet daily with management to communicate schedule updates, discuss jobs status, new job packages and any other updates or changes.
  • Conduct interviews and welding tests with prospective candidates.
  • Ensure new employees are properly trained and onboarded into their respective department.
  • Allocate resources effectively and fully utilize assets/equipment to produce optimal results.
  • Facilitate the process for resolving equipment and facility issues along with preventative maintenance on machines.
  • Monitor plant performance for production and quality standards.
  • Participate with Human Resources on the mid-year and yearly performance reviews of plant employees.
  • Ensure plant floor organization and plant cleanliness.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WELDING SUPERVISOR QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Excellent leadership, team building and managerial skills in a manufacturing setting
  • Knowledge or training in safety rules and regulations
  • Strict adherence to company standards and safety procedures
  • Ability to read, interpret work orders and blueprints
  • Knowledge of welding and fabrication equipment
  • Strong team building, decision-making, and people management skills
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented work environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication with all levels of management
  • Excellent conflict-resolution and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Positive attitude and self-directed individual

PLANT MANAGER EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Associates degree in related field preferred.
  • At least two years' of manufacturing experience
  • At least two years' managerial or supervisory experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT

  • The majority of time will be spent on the shop floor overseeing employees and work being performed.
  • Walking, Standing, Sitting, Kneeling (Frequently)
  • Lifting, Carrying up to 50 pounds (Occasionally)
  • Temperatures (Occasionally)
